Olympic long distance runner Craig Mottram is visiting Townsville City this weekend to promote the McDonald’s Townsville Running Festival. The record-winning runner has been an ambassador for the event for the past 3 years.

Mr Mottram will be making a visit to Townsville over the Labour Day weekend to begin the pre-event promotion for the McDonald’s Townsville Running Festival. The gold medalist runner will be working with the Townsville Road Runners over the weekend visiting the best running tracks and tourist destinations in the city to showcase the region and event to national and international runners.

President of the Townsville Running Festival Committee Tony Gordon will be showing Mr Mottram around the city, sharing with him the best local running spots.

“Having someone like Craig as an ambassador is so incredible because he’s such a legend in the sport and really represents all the best values and ideals of running and living a healthy lifestyle,” says Mr Gordon.

“He has represented Australia all over the world, in the Olympic Games, the Commonwealth Games, in the World Championships. It’s just such an incredible honor to have him onboard again and to get to show him around our beautiful city.”

After filming Mr Mottram will be meeting with the Townsville Road Runners to have a meet-and-greet and informal workshop with the running club.

Mr Mottram will travel back to the city in August to join the competitors at the Townsville Running Festival.
