Corporate Challengers Reach 100
The Queensland Country Health Fund has reason to celebrate, with 100 of its employees, family, and friends registered to participate in the McDonald’s Townsville Running Festival next month.
The Queensland Country Health Fund Corporate 5k Challenge held at the McDonald’s Townsville Running Festival sees businesses from all over Townsville competing with their workmates to raise money for a good cause.
Queensland Country Health Fund, being the naming rights sponsors for this years event, put out the challenge to their staff and family to jump on board and sign up to the race. Today they are celebrating having reached the massive target of 100 entrants.
Tamika Piccinelli, from Queensland Country Health Fund, says that employees from all different parts of the company have come together for this good cause.
“Every year we have a diversity of entrants and this year is no different with our CEO, contact centre staff, branch staff and head office staff represented in our entries,” she said. “This year our CEO, Aaron Newman wanted to encourage as many staff to participate as possible, so we invited our staff to share the experience with a friend. So far we have 30 family and friends of Queensland Country staff members registered.”
Ms. Piccinelli says the challenge has really brought together staff and boosted morale with many of the entrants beginning their training together.
“Many of our staff are currently participating in boot camps and regular exercise programs to train for the event. Some have even started the couch to 5k program,” she said.
“Our staff are extremely excited to be a part of the event this year and the rivalry has already started in the office.”
The office currently has entrants in six out of the total seven events, including five in the half-marathon.
The McDonald’s Townsville Running Festival is an event close to their heart as it promotes active living and community pride.
“The event is extremely important to Queensland Country as it promotes health within the community and encourages the community to get active.”
The 2017 McDonald’s Townsville Running Festival will be held on Sunday, 6 August. The Queensland Country Health Fund Corporate 5k Challenge takes place at 9.15am. For more information, and to register, go to www.townsvillerunningfestival.com
