COVID-19 Update: Registration suspended but planning continues
As COVID-19 measures continue to impact us all, we have chosen to suspend registrations for the 2020 McDonald’s Townsville Running Festival.
At this stage, we are still working hard behind the scenes in hope that our event may go ahead as planned on 2nd August 2020. We are continuing to monitor the public health order, and work closely with our event partners at Tourism and Events Queensland, to ensure that we’re acting within the best interests of our runners, sponsors, supporters and the broader community.
We will continue to update you as further information comes to light and as we have more certainty about this year’s event.

What to do if you’ve already registered for the 2020 McDonald’s Townsville Running Festival:
Remember, we have NOT cancelled this event as of yet.
If you are optimistic and hopeful as we are that the Festival will go ahead as planned, you do not need to do anything at this stage.
You may choose to transfer your registration to the 2021 McDonald’s Townsville Running Festival.
If you’re concerned about participating in this year’s Festival, you may transfer your registration to next year’s event instead at no transfer fee penalty. To transfer, simply head to our homepage and select the “Edit your Registration” button on our homepage, which will step you through the process to move to next year’s event.
We will provide further information about this in May, subject to any changes to the public health order and other regulations in place at that time.
Consider your transport and accommodation bookings.
If you are planning to travel to Townsville to join us for this year’s Running Festival and have already made travel and/or accommodation bookings, you should make a decision on whether to keep or postpone your bookings. There is potential that that the event could be cancelled, however as we are still 18 weeks away we remain positive that the Festival will proceed, while carefully monitoring the situation and formal advice.
Keep running
There’s never been a better time to take up running! Make the most of your outdoor exercise time by using your run to clear your head, wave to a neighbour and beat your best. Just be mindful to observe physical distancing regulations at all times.
More updates will be provided as further information is made available closer to the Festival date.
