Before The Race

Race Numbers
It is compulsory to wear your race number in your race. A timing device is attached to your number. This device can be checked on a timing mat located at registration on Saturday. Attach your race number with pins provided – do not fold, bend or wrinkle your race number. For identification purposes wear your race number facing forward. We urge you to complete the medical details on the rear of your race number.

Race numbers are colour coded per race. You are entitled to keep your race number and timing tag as a souvenir. Many runners are now competing in events in honour or in memory of someone. All race numbers this year have a space to write a name if you wish. Remember no race number means no race time.

Bag Drop

A Bag Drop tent will be located near the race assembly area, on the grass in Jezzine Barracks. A tear-off bag identification tag is attached to your race number.

Race Briefing

Race briefings will be conducted just prior to each race start in the grassed HQ area before all moving to the start zones.

Questions can also be asked on registration day. (the day before the race) Join our Race Director between 12pm and 2pm on Saturday, 3rd August at Race HQ to get the low down on your race questions.

Race maps will also be onsite at the registration to allow you to visualise the course.

First 50 of each race group. Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K Classic entrants are guaranteed a limited edition race singlet. 5K Adult, 5K Junior and 2.5K Hero Run entrants are guaranteed a Head Buff.

Race Etiquette

Please be mindful of the following points in the interests of safety and a fair go for all competitors:

  • The use of iPods and earphones is discouraged: or, if you need music, leave one earpiece out.
  • Position yourself on the start line relative to your ability, this makes for a safer and more efficient start for everyone. If you are walking in a race, position yourself at the rear
  • Always run on the left hand side of the lane in the direction of travel, this allows faster runners room to pass
  • Try not to form a roadblock across the lane
  • Do not suddenly change direction or stop, especially at the start
  • Do not get frustrated with the lack of speed at the start, take it easy
  • Always obey the directions of race officials and emergency services personnel

Facilities

Toilets

Portable toilets will be available adjacent to the Race Assembly Area and Bag Drop tents. On course, public toilets are available at the Rock Pool, Strand Park (next to Picnic Bay SLSC), the Waterpark on the Strand, Rowes Bay (opposite Caravan Park) and at 3 Mile Creek.

Road Safety

Runners will have to share some areas of the Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K courses with traffic. Traffic will be controlled by Police and Traffic Controllers. Please obey any Police instructions.

Run on the left hand side of the course or as directed by the race marshals stationed on each corner. The 5K and 2.5K courses are traffic free.

Travel & Parking

Best parking options are in Rowes Bay with access via Howitt Street and in North Ward via Landsborough Street. Marathoners can access early parking in Cook Street prior to 4:45am. There will be limited parking in Isley Street. Course roads will be closed from 4:15am.

Please do not park across driveways. Allow extra time to travel, park and walk to the event. We suggest you plan to arrive at the event one hour prior to race start to allow plenty of time to secure bags, warm up and get to the assembly area.

There will be designated pedestrian crossing points in Mitchell and Isley Streets for access into the event precinct.
